un verbe à particule adverbiale, c'est quoi ?
un verbe à particule adverbiale est composé de 2 éléments :
élément verbal + élément adverbial
run + away = run away
wake + up = wake up
come + on = come on
La particule adverbiale ajoute du sens / modifie le sens de l'élément verbal :
run away signifie "s'enfuir en courant".
La particule away indique le résultat de l'action :
être au loin
l'élément verbal run exprime le moyen (réponse à la question : comment ?) par lequel cette action se réalise :
en courant.
De nombreux verbes à particule ont un Nobjet :
put down your arms!
il s'agit de verbes transitifs : pour que la phrase ait du sens, le verbe a besoin d'un Nobjet :
put down! n'aurait aucun sens.
verbes à particule transitifs > syntaxe (ordre des mots)
le pronom personnel objet (me, youobjet, her, him, them, thatobjet, itobjet) du verbe à particule transitif se place entre l'élément verbal et l'élément adverbial :
Ipronom personnel sujet woke youpronom personnel objet up.
I woke you up.
