Spending My Tenderness on Animals

As a vulnerable girl at a remote commune,

I sought solace from horses, goats, even a bear cub.

Today’s dark times have sent me their way again.

Changing How We View Animals

Video    The Daily Show    4 August 2022

“For me,

it’s about doing the best thing possible for the animal.”

Animal rights activist and filmmaker Ryuji Chua

discusses changing his views

to see animals as a someone and not a something,

analyzing evidence that shows fish feel,

play and have families just like cats and dogs,

and getting informed on the suffering humans cause

when farming animals for food.

Crannog - the woman who helps animals to die with dignity

Video        The Guardian        12 July 2019

Alexis has a life-threatening disease.

She spends her time

in the wooded expanse of northern Scotland

where she takes care of dozens of others

who are also sick, wounded or dying.

Some have terminal cancer,

some were about to be killed

because of their disabilities,

some were saved from slaughterhouses.

Alexis provides palliative care for animals.

Crannog follows Alexis as she tirelessly tries

to nurse a neglected sheep back to health.

A quiet reflection on kindness in the face of death,

the film intimately explores the fragility and strength

that comes from dedicating your life to the care of others.

FIRST COW    Official Trailer

FIRST COW (2019)

Official Trailer | Exclusively on MUBI Now    Video    27 April 2021

Kelly Reichardt, an inimitable voice of American cinema,

redefines the notion of what a western can be.

Set among outcasts on the edge of capitalism’s grasp,

First Cow is a rare tale

of the blossoming of a heartfelt male friendship,

and one told with sublime gentleness and touching compassion.

Two travelers,

on the run from a band of vengeful hunters

in the 1820s Northwest,

dream of striking it rich,

but their tenuous plan to make their fortune on the frontier

comes to rely on the secret use

of a wealthy landowner’s prized dairy cow.

"Be nice to yu turkeys dis christmas

Cos' turkeys just wanna hav fun

Turkeys are cool, turkeys are wicked

An every turkey has a Mum.

Be nice to yu turkeys dis christmas,

Don't eat it, keep it alive,

It could be yu mate, an not on your plate

Say, Yo! Turkey I'm on your side."

I got lots of friends who are turkeys

An all of dem fear christmas time,

Dey wanna enjoy it,

An humans are out of dere mind,

Yeah, I got lots of friends who are turkeys

Dey all hav a right to a life,

Not to be caged up an genetically made up
