Un pronom, c'est quoi ?
Un pronom est une forme nominale qui vaut pour (pro en latin) un nom ou un groupe nominal (GN), et qui peut donc remplacer un ou plusieurs noms / GN (communs ou propres).
N <-> Pronom
Liz <-> She (pronom personnel féminin sujet)
John <-> He (pronom personnel masculin sujet)
My laptop <-> It (pronom non-humain sujet)
certains pronoms (that, which) peuvent aussi renvoyer à une proposition (SV ou SVO) :
If you beat me up, my dad will call the principal and you'll get suspended.
Is that what you want?
that = you'll get suspended

Les pronoms personnels réfléchis renvoient l'image du sujet.
Ils fonctionnent comme des miroirs du sujet (parfois même des "miroirs grossissants", comme dans l'énoncé ci-dessous).
Ils mettent en évidence que l'action exprimée par le verbe renvoie au sujet / concerne le sujet, ou a été faite par le sujet :
